Job Summary:
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting project managers as they lead/coordinate construction projects such as construction of new facilities; additions, expansions, or extension of an existing facility; or renovating/altering a facility in collaboration with project team, construction site, and management.
General Duties:
Safety
•Observes weekly safety audits provided by field and assists team with compliance.
•Adheres to Primus Company Safety Policies both at Project locations and in Corporate Office.
Drawing Reviews
•Observes all contract documents including contract drawings, project summary and owner contract.
•Assists Project Manager with review of initial engineering, construction, shop drawings and delivery schedule.
•Participate in the reviewing of construction documents with the Project Manager for items to watch out for, such as cost of details, “buildability,” scope, and coordination
•Assists with issuance of drawings to the field, vendors, and subcontractors.
Buyout/Procurement
•Becomes familiar with the coordination between project management, field construction and engineering, including request for information procedures.
•Observes and assists with purchasing procedures.
•Assists in solicitation of subcontractors and vendors to quote items of work.
•Assists in preparing request for quotation packages.
•Assists in the review of proposals including bid summary procedures and owner approvals.
•Assists in the drafting of purchase orders and subcontracts.
Submittals
•Observes review of shop drawings and material deliveries.
•Assists in uploading submittals and shop drawings to applicable software for distribution.
Scheduling
•Observes and assist in preparing and monitoring schedules and logs for engineering, construction, delivery, shop drawing, etc.
•Become familiar with construction procedures and techniques as they relate to the scheduling of subcontractors and material deliveries.
•Observes on site scheduling meetings when applicable.
•Assists in transfer of Lean Planning from field to Lean Plan Facilitator.
Day to Day Duties
•Observe the permit procedures for obtaining building permits, occupancy permits, and local building official inspections.
•Become familiar with construction procedures and techniques as they relate to the scheduling of subcontractors and material deliveries.
•Attend coordination meetings.
•Learn the Project Manager’s role with owner on coordinating scope of work, reviewing work in place and handling of owner changes.
•Understand good correspondence procedures.
•Assist in preparing, vendors, and subcontractors.
•Begin learning the cost system, including coding and review of subcontractor and vendor invoices and updating cost forecast report.
Project Closeout
•Assist in preparing a punch list and completion of punch list items.
•Assist in preparation and assembly of final drawings, operations and maintenance manuals and final accounting to owners, subcontractors and vendors.
•Become involved in warranty problems as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
•Bachelors degree in related field.
•0-2 years of experience, Construction preferred.
•Proficient with Microsoft office products.
•Experience using Viewpoint software preferred.
•Must be able to multi-task; prioritize; and work with minimal supervision.
•Must have strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
•Strong interpersonal skills.

Working conditions and Physical Requirements:
•Works in office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions 80% of time, unless assigned to project site.
•Required travel to project sites with exposure to heavy equipment and environmental conditions 20% of the time.
•May occasionally work in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
•Ability to continuously sit and operate a computer and other office equipment
•Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift occasionally.
