Position Summary
The
Assistant Project Manager
supports Project Managers and the broader project management team by performing administrative and coordination tasks necessary to ensure the timely and accurate execution of steel fabrication projects. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and strong organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities•Assist Project Managers in organizing, tracking, and updating project documentation, including schedules, submittals, RFI logs, and material tracking.
•Support with project start-up tasks such as job setup sheets, internal kick-off coordination, and document control.
•Help prepare and distribute internal and external communications including meeting minutes, reports, and change order logs.
•Coordinate with other departments including Detailing, Purchasing, Production Control, and Shipping to gather and verify project-related information.
•Maintain accurate records and electronic files in accordance with company standards.
•Follow up with subcontractors and vendors for submittals, quotes, and delivery confirmations.
•Assist with tracking fabrication and erection schedules and alert the Project Manager of any delays or issues.
•Help ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
•Provide administrative support during client meetings, inspections, and Lessons Learned reviews.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
•High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
•1–3 years of experience in a construction, engineering, or manufacturing setting (structural steel experience is a plus).
•Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
•Familiarity with project management software or ERP systems (experience with Tekla PowerFab is a plus).
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong organizational and time management abilities.
•Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
