Primary Purpose PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
A qualified attorney with experience in large projects, including project management, engineering, procurement and construction support.
Primary Duties PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1 Provides representation and counsel, both internal and external, regarding complex commercial legal assignments related to regulated electric and gas projects to negotiate complex construction projects for transmission and distribution assets, including contracting on an EPC (traditional and progressive) /GMP model Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts and supervises complex legal assignments, requiring an ability to evaluate matters that may have a major bearing on the Company’s business; evaluates legal and business risks and liability of strategic initiatives and advises clients accordingly. Review and draft legal documents and work closely and cooperatively with necessary internal legal (and at times, outside counsel) and other business departments to ensure timely and compliant project completion. Advise internal clients during all phases of project contracting. Interprets and applies internal policies consistent with the law.
2 Prepares budgets and oversight of outside counsel management
3 Provides project leadership direction to other department attorneys and support staff
4 Projects / duties as assigned.
Job Scope JOB SCOPE
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions. At least 7 to 10 years of relevant professional experience. Experience in construction contracting including EPC/GMP models. Requires excellent analytical abilities. Must have the ability to communicate clearly - both orally and in writing, formally and informally; to read and analyze legal and legislative materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines. Experience in direct counsel to business clients.
