Are you in? Primary Purpose:
A senior, highly qualified attorney handling complex real estate, real estate development, and related commercial legal matters and projects on behalf of the Company.
1 Under minimal supervision, handles and supervises a broad array of complex commercial real estate interests, such as developments, and related commercial legal assignments; evaluates matters which may have a major bearing on the conduct of the Company’s business as it relates to the use of its facilities and real estate interests; evaluates both legal and business risks and advises clients accordingly. Reviews and drafts real estate documents including commercial deeds, easements, licenses, purchase and sale agreements and other contracts and advises clients accordingly. Works closely with real estate clients to advise them on commercial real estate and related matters.
2 Prepares, and revises as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters
involving outside counsel.
3 Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction.
4 Projects / duties as assigned by the General Counsel or designee.
An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in Maryland or have a license to practice law in another jurisdiction but be able to obtain a license to practice law in Maryland. At least 7 to 10 years of professional experience in a real estate-related specialized area of law. Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments. Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and on ongoing knowledge of federal, state, and local law. Must have the ability to communicate clearly – both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.
At least 5 years of professional experience in the commercial real estate development area of law. Previous experience handling real estate matters for or on behalf of a corporation or other business.
