Position Title: Asset Manager – Industrial Manufacturing Vendors Location: Houston, TX FLSA Class: Exempt Reports To: VP of Asset Management and Lifecycle
Position Summary: The Asset Manager – Industrial Manufacturing Vendors is responsible for the performance, lifecycle management, and strategic oversight of third-party manufacturing vendors supporting VoltaGrid asset build programs.
This role owns vendor execution across cost, schedule, quality, and delivery while ensuring alignment with operational requirements and long-term asset performance. The Asset Manager will lead and develop a team and act as the primary interface between internal stakeholders and external manufacturing partners.
The ideal candidate brings strong vendor management experience in industrial or energy environments, a deep understanding of equipment manufacturing workflows, and the ability to drive accountability across external partners.
- Serve as the primary owner of relationships with industrial manufacturing vendors producing critical equipment (e.g., generators, power systems, skids, or similar assets).
- Manage vendor performance across cost, schedule, quality, and delivery KPIs.
- Establish and enforce vendor accountability frameworks, including SLAs, scorecards, and performance reviews
- Identify underperforming vendors and drive corrective actions or replacement strategies.
- Support sourcing, onboarding, and qualification of new manufacturing vendors.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of manufactured assets from build initiation through delivery, commissioning support, and handoff to operations.
- Ensure equipment meets technical specifications, reliability standards, and operational requirements.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to resolve design, manufacturing, or quality issues.
- Track and report asset readiness, risks, and delivery timelines.
- Directly manage and develop employees, providing guidance on vendor coordination, tracking, and execution.
- Establish clear roles, performance expectations, and development plans.
- Foster a high-accountability, execution-focused team culture.
- Own vendor-related budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through vendor optimization, negotiation, and process improvements.
- Analyze vendor pricing, change orders, and cost variances to ensure financial discipline.
- Act as the bridge between procurement, engineering, construction, and operations
- Ensure alignment between vendor output and project timelines.
- Communicate risks, delays, and mitigation plans to senior leadership.
- Identify risks in manufacturing schedules, supply chains, and vendor capacity.
- Implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement in vendor processes and internal workflows.
- Maintain clear documentation of vendor performance, contracts, and asset status.
- Provide regular reporting on vendor KPIs, asset delivery timelines, and risk exposure.
- Develop dashboards or tracking tools to improve visibility across the organization.- 5+ years of experience in program management, asset management, vendor management, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Experience managing third-party manufacturing vendors (EPC, fabrication shops, OEMs, etc.).
- Proven leadership experience, including managing direct reports.
- Strong understanding of industrial equipment manufacturing and supply chain dynamics.
- Experience with power generation, oil & gas, data center infrastructure, or heavy industrial equipment preferred.
- Strong financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting, cost control).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with tracking/reporting tools preferred.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities.
