About the position:
We are currently seeking an Architectural Plans Coordinator (APC) for our growing Birmingham/Tuscaloosa division! Our APCs coordinate and track residential projects; lead and direct outside architectural and engineering firms in plan preparation; and select, evaluate, and implement procedures on architectural plans.
Essential Functions:
•Coordinate with outside architects and engineers in developing new plans and new product implementation
•Communicate corrections or changes of approved plans to architects, engineers, and manufacturers; coordinate plan changes with Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Construction, and other affected departments
•Collaborate with job site personnel on plan changes; respond to plan discrepancies and/or questions
•Review architectural plans for building code compliance and builder’s predetermined construction compliance details
•Review structural framing, roof trusses, and foundation plans for value engineering; verify architectural, structural engineering, roof trusses, and foundation are correct and accurate
•Perform routine on-site inspections; verify architectural plan compliance with Construction team as needed
•Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; field of study in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction is highly desired*
•Minimum 2 years of directly related experience and/or training
•Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
•Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and email
•Ability to work overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
•4 years of directly related experience and/or training
•Knowledge of CADD and other drafting programs is highly desired
•Experience performing structural, architectural, roofing inspections
•Knowledge and understanding of building codes, municipal permitting, and regulations is highly preferred
Working environment:
APCs can work in the field as well as in an office setting. They may have regular exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level is generally loud on a regular basis while in the field. Candidates should be able to stand for at least 4-hours straight, up to a full 8-hour day as well as sit for extended periods of time; kneel; bend at the waist; climb ladders, scaffolding; balance; stoop; crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; traverse across unlevel terrain; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and hear and talk. Specific close, distance, color, and peripheral vision abilities are required for this role.
