Where You Will Work

In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.

Description

The first level of a three (3) year program that includes a combination of formal classroom courses and on-the-job training designed to develop selected candidates into highly skilled and professional trade employees. Responsible for learning and performing minor maintenance/operations activities independently, with minimal supervision, or support Journeymen in their maintenance activities.

Attend required classroom training sessions

•

Perform on-the-job training activities in appropriate discipline

•

Perform safe operation of maintenance mobile equipment such as forklifts, stinger trucks and overhead and mobile cranes

•

Perform work area and equipment safety inspections

•

Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

•

Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred

•

High School diploma or GED

•

Completion of J-TED and/or other technical program related to themechanical trade

•

Completion of coursework in the mechanical field

•

One (1) year of previous verifiable experience in the mechanical field

Criteria/Conditions

•

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

•

Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

•

Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

•

Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

•

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms

•

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday

•

May be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation

•

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

•

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $19.00-$26.00/hour . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process. .

What We Require
