The Role
This is a great opportunity to join one of the largest integrated energy and commodity trading companies in the world. We are looking for a hands-on senior technologist with exposure in the Commodities industry who is passionate about technology and has experience supporting enterprise-wide systems. The successful candidate is adept at partnering with end-users to log issues, analyse issues, provide tactical/strategical solutions and ultimately deliver tangible business value & benefit. This role will report into the Head of Application Support – North America working on different business systems critical for the trading life cycle and generation asset management.
Key Responsibilities
•Supporting of Commodity Trading and live position applications during trading hours. This includes fixing trade booking issues, investigating root cause of delays in updating real-time position for traders, setup of reference data, debugging code to identify bugs etc.
•Support trading activities for the Real-time power trading desk. This includes monitoring of key processes for operating generation assets in ISO markets, investigating data issues and taking corrective actions, debugging code to identify bugs and so on.
•Support of CTRM and upstream/downstream applications for Intraday and End of day activities. This includes among other things ensuring that exchange executed trades are booked timely, data feeds for downstream applications are working as intended, correct data is uploaded to ledger application etc.
•Take appropriate actions to ensure that time-critical batch steps run successfully. This may involve root cause analysis of issues and taking appropriate corrective actions (fixing pricing issues, identifying problems with trade setup and taking corrective actions, debugging system and database performance issues etc.).
•Monitor applications availability and report issues pro-actively.
•Communicate with clients/vendors as required: inform/follow-up for incident progress, notify them of impending changes or agreed outages.
•Fast turnaround of client requests.
•Log and prioritize tickets in the ticketing system.
•Escalate service requests that require advanced or specialized knowledge to the appropriate teams.
•Improve client service, perception, and satisfaction.
Technical expertise
•5 years of work experience in IT industry.
•Minimum 3 years of working experience in energy trading domain.
•Must have knowledge of OpenLink Endur system (North American Gas and Power).
•Good knowledge of Endur OpenJVS programming.
•Experience with CTRM Application support including upstream/downstream systems. (e.g. understands business workflow, trade life cycle and operations)
•Knowledge of Python and frameworks like Dash is a distinct advantage.
•Diagnosis skills of technical issues related to programs in Java, Python or other programming language.
•Understanding of databases and SQL scripting.
•Knowledge of data management solutions like Aveva PI is a plus.
•Working knowledge of ISO power markets.
•Demonstrated ability learn and work on different systems (third party and in-house developed).
•Experience of working on trading floor and supporting traders during peak hours is preferred.
