Job Summary

Supports the day-to-day operations of the Sales Staff in promoting sales, securing orders, and providing quality service to our customers. Consults with customers on product and system sales applications. Provides technical, specific or specialist product support for branches, customers and outside sales staff. Leads training on new and existing technical product lines and applications.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

- Regularly calls-on assigned target accounts.

- Consults with customers on product and system sales applications.

- Provides customers with timely follow-up on quotations, technical inquiries and other requests.

- Provides continuous contact and interaction with customer’s engineering staff and consultants.

- Provides technical, specific or specialized product support for branches, customers and outside sales staff.

- Actively participates in planning and sale of Border States’ technical products and services.

- Maintains a basic understanding of the power grid.

- Holds moderately complex conversations with consultants, customers and employees related to product technology.

- Works on moderately complex problems and refers more difficult issues to the engineer.

- Works with a moderate range of products and services.

- Makes routine decisions and resolves basic issues related to product technology.

- Supports the promotion of BSE’s agency lines.

- Participates in and advises management on the implementation and success of marketing plans and strategies.

- Consistently provides responsive, quality service to meet and exceed customer expectations.

- Provides input to other sales and marketing staff on customer needs and concerns regarding pricing, products, competition, procedures, and market potential.

- Leads customer and BSE employee training on new and existing technical product lines and applications in the specified product areas.

- Supports customers in all areas of Landis+Gyr metering and systems support; including advanced metering infrastructure, advance load management, distribution automation, metering and system sales presentations, training, meter & software support, systems product & software support

- Supports customers in Eaton Cooper power systems or other manufacturers agency items, apparatus hardware and software support, including regulators, reclosers and capacitor controls.

Non-essential Functions

- Performs product updates and new product launches for branches and customers as required.

- Ensures existing demos are in functional condition.

- Attends and assists with sales meetings, trade shows and training programs as needed.

- Provides field trouble shooting assistance, training and information/documentation support.

- Supports Systems Solutions Group planning

- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designate.

Qualifications

- Minimum a two-year technical or equivalent experience required.

- Knowledge and technical competence in understanding of electrical utility distribution and transmission apparatus and metering systems preferred.

- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint), Internet, Email and SAP software preferred.

- Excellent customer service skills include being competent, accurate, responsive and engaged.

- Ability to effectively plan and organize.
