About Us
Dixon Directional is a leader in directional drilling and custom tool design, leveraging six years of comprehensive tool lifecycle data and 19 million feet of Electronic Drilling Recorder (EDR) data to drive innovation. We are a dynamic, data-driven company committed to integrating AI to optimize operations, enhance financial performance, and maintain our competitive edge in the oil and gas industry.
Job Overview
We are seeking an AI Solutions Engineer to design, implement, and manage AI solutions that transform our business. Working closely with our hands-on business owner, you will analyze tool lifecycle data, monitor financial health, predict inventory needs, and extract insights from extensive EDR data. This role combines hands-on coding, strategic consulting, and team training to drive AI adoption across our operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive, communicative AI expert passionate about applying machine learning to real-world industrial challenges.
Duties
•Tool Lifecycle Optimization: Develop predictive models to analyze six years of tool data (purchase orders, delivery, usage, end-of-life) to extend part lifespans and reduce costs. Implement predictive maintenance algorithms and create real-time dashboards.
•Financial Health Monitoring: Build AI systems using NLP and OCR to extract insights from QuickBooks, emails, and financial records. Automate reports for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and profitability metrics (e.g., IBT, DSO). Forecast cash flow and risks.
•Inventory Prediction: Create machine learning models to forecast inventory based on usage, project schedules, and supply chain data, minimizing overstocking or shortages.
•EDR Data Analysis: Analyze 19 million feet of EDR data (e.g., Pason, Totco) to optimize drilling performance, predict tool wear, and enhance decision-making. Integrate insights with MWD systems.
•Consulting and Strategy: Advise the business owner on AI strategy, identify new AI applications, and prioritize projects to align with business goals.
•Team Training and Management: Train and mentor team members on AI tools and concepts to build internal AI capabilities. Manage AI project workflows and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
•Collaboration: Engage daily with the business owner to align on project progress, provide clear explanations of AI solutions, and ensure strategic alignment.
•Deployment: Deploy scalable AI models, integrating with existing systems (e.g., QuickBooks, EDR platforms, inventory tools). Maintain and update models to adapt to evolving needs.
Qualifications
•Education - Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field.
•Experience integrating AI with accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks) or EDR systems (e.g., Pason, Totco).
•Knowledge of directional drilling, tool design, or oilfield operations.
•Familiarity with ethical AI practices for data privacy and compliance.
•Authorization to work in the United States; Dixon will not sponsor work visas.
Experience
•5+ years in AI/ML engineering or data science, with 2+ years in oil and gas, manufacturing, or industrial applications.
•Proven success in developing and deploying AI models for predictive maintenance, financial analysis, or time-series forecasting.
•Experience with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Technical Skills
•Proficiency in Python and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
•Expertise in time-series analysis, NLP, and predictive modeling.
•Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and database systems (SQL, NoSQL).
Soft Skills
•Excellent communication skills to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
•Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, owner-driven environment.
•Ability to train and mentor other colleagues to build AI literacy within the organization.
Join us in driving innovation through technology as a Solutions Engineer, where your expertise will make a significant impact as you work directly with a passionate business owner to shape our AI future while contributing to high-impact projects that enhance operational efficiency and profitability in a dynamic environment.
