About This Job

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state.

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. The NYISO invites applications for a full-time Administrative Clerk.

Under minimal supervision, provides clerical and administrative support to NYISO organization as assigned. May also take direction from other NYISO staff as appropriate. Is competent to provide training and assistance to other staff. Has well-developed knowledge of NYISO general policies and procedures, and a highly developed knowledge of those specific to the area(s) where assigned. Is able to complete routine tasks with a minimum of direction.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

- Provides general clerical and administrative support to the NYISO organization as assigned, including, but not limited to such tasks as:

- Typing, Mail Distribution, Visitor Reception, Answer Telephones, Some Dictation & Transcription, Filing, Travel Arrangements, Copying/Faxing & Correspondence

- Uses PC word processing programs, spreadsheets and other business applications to create correspondence, records and files, and to generate documents and reports. Also operates business office equipment in the course of performing assigned work.

- Maintains security of confidential information.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High School diploma required, and a minimum of 5 years of successful administrative support work experience is desired. Certificate in secretarial science, computer applications or business applications or equivalent is preferred.

Facility with computerized business applications such as spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software.

Good interpersonal skills are required to interface with all levels of management and internal/external customers, and to assist coworkers.

Good mathematical and analytical skills are required to identify errors and correct them.

Good English grammar and spelling skills, as well as attention to detail, are required for preparing accurate work.

The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality is essential due to the sensitive nature of the data with which the NYISO deals, and the mandates in the ISO Agreement.

Certain deadlines may require work on weekends, nights, or an occasional holiday.

Working Conditions:

The person in this position works in a normal office environment.

Salary Range

$71,848.47 - $71,848.47 USD
