Position Overview:
Swisher Electric Cooperative is hiring an Accounting Specialist or Accounting Coordinator to support payroll, capital credits, assets, materials, fleet, and work order processes. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Create queries and reports for internal and external use
Conduct financial analysis and provide reporting and recommendations
Process escheatment of unclaimed checks or allocate to Cooperative funds
Manage capital credits and Board-approved General Retirements
Administer payroll, tax filings, and year-end reporting
Maintain work order system, including contributions and property records
Track and reconcile assets, materials, and fleet vehicles monthly
Submit fuel tax reports and manage registrations and insurance
Assist with audits

Qualifications:
Associate’s or bachelor’s in accounting or related field preferred
3+ years of accounting experience preferred; utility/cooperative experience a plus
Proficient in Excel
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Title and compensation will be based on experience.
