Position Summary
ARF Solar is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for managing core financial operations including payroll, tax reporting, union compliance, grants, and forecasting activities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience in both accounts receivable and payable, and the ability to maintain financial health and accuracy within a fast-paced and mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
•Prepare and submit payroll reports on a regular schedule
•Ensure timely payments through EFTPS (Electronic Federal Tax Payment System)
•File and manage Illinois state tax reports via IL-Tax Net
•Oversee IBEW Union reporting, ensuring compliance and timely submissions
•Administer grant reporting for various funding sources, ensuring accurate documentation and timelines
•Manage accounts receivable (AR) including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation
•Oversee accounts payable (AP) to ensure accurate and timely payment processing
•Maintain and reconcile balance sheets, general ledger accounts, and financial records
•Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting, providing strategic insights to leadership
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, or related field
•Experience preferred, but not required (construction or energy industry strongly preferred)
•Strong understanding of payroll processing and tax reporting systems
•Experience with union compliance (IBEW or similar) highly preferred
•Familiarity with grant reporting standards and fund accounting practices
•Excellent organizational and communication skills
•Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
