The Yard Manager oversees all daily operations of the pipe yard and transload facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective management of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and inspection activities. This role is responsible for supervising yard staff, maintaining equipment and facilities, and ensuring compliance with company standards and safety regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of yard personnel engaged in shipping, receiving, inventory management, and transload.
- Manage yard expenses, approve related invoices, and monitor operational budgets.
- Partner with the GM – Rig Services on staffing decisions including hiring, promotions, and terminations.
- Ensure the yard is maintained in a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant condition.
- Operate and oversee use of specialized equipment, including:
- Truck and railcar spotting
- Hydraulic hatch opening equipment
- Transload conveyors
- Rail moving equipment
- Utilize computer software to input data, maintain accurate records, and generate shipping/receiving tickets.
- Coordinate facility and equipment maintenance to ensure reliability and cleanliness.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2–5 years of experience in OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods) and API threading operations
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience
- Strong organizational, leadership, and employee relations skills
- Proficiency with computers and basic software applications
- Strong communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in management, operations, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in OCTG- Advanced knowledge of industry safety and compliance standards
