Welder/Fitter/Fabricator

Metex Manufacturing is a steel fabrication company specializing in heavy-duty in custom, heavy-duty plate work. We are seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter/Fabricator to join our team in Sudbury, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

- Read blueprints and drawings

- Determine the appropriate welding method based on requirements

- Operate Overhead Cranes

- Operate small tools such as angle grinders etc. to prepare the parts that must be welded

- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment

- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps

- Maintaining a clean work environment

- Constructing base templates if necessary.

- Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines.

- Setting up metalwork machinery including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears.

- Fabricating and constructing metal components.

- Grinding and finishing completed products.

- Performing quality checks on completed products.

- Conforming Company safety regulations.

Requirements and Skills:

- 4 years of previous experience in a similar role

- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)

- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)

- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings

- Communicate in English and French an asset

- Following all safety and health procedures to avoid accidents and hazards

- Graduated from recognized College Course

- CWB certification and welding experience

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints

- Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses

- Mathematical skills

- Rigging and Overhead crane knowledge and experience

- Ability to stand for long periods.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$40.00 per hour
