DESCRIPTION
The Quality Technician is responsible for providing service in support of quality and engineering initiatives by focusing on product testing, process improvement and customer satisfaction through the quality management system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
NOTE: An employee assigned to this title shall perform a majority, but may not perform all, of the duties listed in this job description. Conversely, minor level duties performed on the job may not be listed.
•Work in a safe manner with a goal of zero harm.

•Ensure compliance with safety and environmental rules and regulations.
•Read and understand process sheets.
•Assist with internal audits of the quality system.
•Assist with customer return processing.
•Participation in casting certification process.
•Assist with preparing, distributing, and monitoring activities relative to NCR dispositions.
•Performs calibrations in compliance with the calibrations system, record calibrations and maintain records. Update calibration records and coordinate control of customer owned gages.
•Inspect and test various products and materials using metrology equipment, magnetic particle, dye penetrant and hardness testing.
•Prepare document packages for review and approval and forward to customer per instructions.
•Perform various sand testing, provide reports to plant leadership, and provide guidance on necessary binder and/or system adjustments in maintaining consistent and acceptable mold/core properties.
· · Perform tensile testing as required for material certifications to include specimen collection, database updates and coordinate shipment of specimens to customers and third parties as needed.
•Coordinate document and certification creation and retention.
•Assist with processing and monitoring RMA orders.
•Receive and store material certifications.
•Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
•Ensure proper execution of policies and procedures within areas of responsibility.
•Maintain clean and organized workstation.
•Must have good attendance and be reliable.
•All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Knowledge of how to operate a personal computer and basic computer skills.
•Knowledge of non-destructive testing.
•Knowledge of Odyssey ERP system.
•Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
•Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
•Quality Control Analysis – Conduct tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
•Ability to learn and understand metal casting processes.
•Ability to analyze information and report test results.
•Ability to promote process improvement, develop standards, and manage processes.
•Ability to use various measuring devices.
•Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and senior managers, as well as employees.
•Ability to gain understanding of plant equipment and processes.
•Ability to express ideas and communicate orally and in writing.
•Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
•Ability to gain understanding of plant equipment and production process.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
(a) High School education or equivalent
(b) Experience with Odyssey ERP preferred; and,
(c) Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant foundry or manufacturing experience preferred; or
(d) Equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Ability to manage schedules, consider resources and communicate these needs effectively throughout the organization.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Telephone, personal computer (including word processing and other specialized software), metrology and various testing equipment.
