Water Services Representative

Position Summary

Working under the general supervision of the Water Services Supervisor, the Water Services Representative is the first point of contact for customers establishing new services for new construction. Under general supervision and instruction, performs routine clerical assignments in the Water Services Engineering Department.  Limited exercise of independent judgment is required.  No supervision over others but does work with others.

Specific Responsibilities

Answer customer questions by phone, email, mail, and in person regarding establishing new service and ensuring the property is within our CCN.

Responsible for communicating with new customers, fees, and required documents to proceed with establishing new service. The representative will monitor accounts for payment prior to sending out any work orders.

Generate field work orders for service installation, tap inquiries, line extensions, and other regular maintenance service and apply for permits as required for different counties.

Maintaining a personal checks and balances system within work order folders to compare against the weekly open work order list

Courteous and professional demeanor always, as this position is in contact with the public by phone, email, and in person.

Receive the Service Application and Agreement form and process accordingly.

Effectively document customer information, or issue/concerns, in the Customer database

Instruct Water Service employees on using multiple mapping systems to identify specific requirements for different subdivisions within different counties.

Release of Easements

Initiate billing cycle for new taps and closing work orders.

Effectively communicate both written and orally

Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Provide clerical support to other customer service staff as required.

During lunch breaks/vacation/illness, is also responsible for general customer duties.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Skilled in operating computers, phones, scanners, copy machines, and general office equipment and ability to learn different software programs.

Ability to calmly communicate verbally; ability to establish successful working relationships; ability to work under pressure and/or with frequent interruptions; ability to calmly work with angry or difficult customers.

Valid Texas driver's license

Required Education And Experience

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent or higher

2+ years of applicable customer service and/or administrative-related experience required.
