Summary Statement:
This position entails the performance of entry level work in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment and facilities. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Chief Operator or assigned supervisor and is subject to prescribed methods and procedures. The District wastewater facilities are a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year operation and a person in this category may be subjected to working shift work on a regular basis including nights, holidays, and weekends and emergency situations.
Responsibilities:
•Trains in the operation, monitoring and maintenance of the proper surveillance of all water purification and wastewater treatment plant processes, equipment and controls to optimize operation of the plant and ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State and local laws, ordinances and regulations.
•Maintains and performs minor repair work on pumps and other mechanical equipment necessary; ensures proper positioning of controls and proper operation of equipment.
•Maintains accurate inspections, activity, and equipment records.
•Collects wastewater and water samples.
•Trains in the operations of sludge de-watering equipment
•Maintains accurate electronic log of operations of repairs/ maintenance into District work order system.
•May cross train in Maintenance and Collections departments.
•Answers District Emergency line and provides excellent customer service.
•Operate a variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools.
•Assist other District personnel on related projects.
Education and Experience:
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Work experience involving operation of mechanical or electrical equipment, preferably in wastewater treatment capacity.
•Must obtain a State of Florida Class “C” Wastewater License within 24- months or as defined in the “Employee Conditions of Employment” at the time of hire.
•Possession of a valid Florida Class “B” CDL Drivers Driver’s license OR obtain a Class “B” CDL within the time allotted in conditions of employment letter.
•Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
