Loudoun Water has an immediate opening for a Wastewater Plant Operator or Wastewater Plant Operator Apprentice at the Broad Run Water Reclamation Facility (BRWRF) located in Ashburn, VA
The BRWRF is a 16.5 MGD state-of-the-art facility utilizing biological nutrient removal, membrane filtration, carbon absorption, and ultra-violet disinfection treatment to protect drinking water sources. The facility is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Under the supervision of a Shift Supervisor, the selected Operator or Apprentice will assist in ensuring the facility is operational and meets permit requirements. Specifically, the Operator or Apprentice will monitor plant performance and treatment equipment using SCADA, perform sampling and laboratory analyses, operate pumps and other equipment, and perform house-cleaning tasks to maintain the WRF buildings. The Operator or Apprentice will also be expected to collect and record data, troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and write maintenance work order requests.
Minimum requirements: High school diploma or GED preferably including basic mathematics and science courses. All candidates must be eligible and able to obtain a minimum of a VA Class IV Wastewater Treatment License within eighteen (18) months of hiring. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license. Candidates with current VA Wastewater licenses of all classes are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Water Reclamation Facility is a 24/7/365 facility utilizing a 12-hour shift schedule. Operators are essential personnel and are required to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays. A sample schedule will be provided to candidates.
