Position Summary


This executive leadership role is part of Ormat’s Electricity Segment global leadership team and is responsible for leading the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Training (EHS&T) programs across the global fleet of operating facilities and all drilling and resource activities. The role reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Electricity Segment with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Senior Vice President, Drilling and Resources.

The Vice President holds full accountability for safety and environmental outcomes, ensuring that EHS&T policies, programs, and advanced safety techniques align with corporate goals, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

The role is focused on fostering a proactive safety culture that delivers safe work outcomes while driving continuous improvement and operational readiness



Essential Functions


- Regulatory Compliance and Risk Mitigation Monitor compliance with local, state, federal, and international EHS regulations.

- Lead risk assessments and audits to identify gaps and implement corrective actions to mitigate operational and environmental risks.

- Establish and maintain proactive relationships with federal, state, and international Environmental, Health, and Safety regulatory bodies.

- Acts as the primary point of contact for agency communications, inspections, audits, and reporting.

- Ensures timely and accurate submission of required documentation and facilitates transparent dialogue to support compliance, resolve issues, and promote Ormat’s commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

- Represent the company in regulatory forums and collaborates with internal stakeholders to interpret and implement evolving regulations across all operational sites

- Policy and Program Development Develop and maintain comprehensive EHS&T policies, procedures, and training programs that meet or exceed regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

- Ensure alignment with corporate objectives and operational needs.

- Incident Management and Continuous Improvement Oversee incident investigation processes, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

- Use findings to inform training updates and process improvements.

- Training Oversight and Standardization Direct the design, delivery, and evaluation of safety and operational training programs.

- Ensure consistency and quality across all sites, including onboarding, refresher training, emergency preparedness, and emergency response.

- Auditing, Incident Management and Reporting Design and implement robust systems to monitor and evaluate internal and external EHS&T performance.

- Oversee the execution of audit protocols, ensuring findings are documented, analyzed, and addressed through corrective actions.

- Leads the development of incident management procedures, including root cause analysis, trend tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Ensures timely and accurate reporting to executive leadership, and other stakeholders to maintain transparency and compliance.

- Emergency Management Planning and Response Direct the development and execution of emergency preparedness plans across all operational sites and for drilling and resource operations.

- Ensures alignment with local, national, and international safety standards. Coordinates timely notification to applicable internal and external parties in the event of an incident.

- Provides strategic and operational support to on-site personnel during emergencies, guiding mitigation efforts and implementing protective measures to safeguard employees, contractors and assets.

- Performance Metrics and Reporting Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for EHS&T effectiveness.

- Provide regular reports and insights to executive leadership and regulatory bodies as required.

- Strategic Leadership of EHS&T Programs Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Training programs across all U.S. and international operations within the Electricity Segment.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with senior leaders in Operations, Human Resources, Legal, and Engineering to integrate EHS&T into business planning, project execution, and workforce development.

- Team Leadership and Development Lead and mentor a team of EHS&T professionals.

- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.

- Organizational Leadership Establish an organization wide level of leadership influence, foster a reputation as one of the key leaders of safety and organizational culture within Ormat.

- As a member of the Ormat’s senior leadership group, engage in the development of overall corporate strategy and work collaboratively with your peer group to exceed the performance goals for the organization as a whole.

- Change Management and Culture Building Lead change management initiatives that promote a proactive safety culture.

- Drive alignment between corporate safety goals and field-level execution through communication, training, and leadership engagement.



Education, Experience, and Skills Required


- Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience in Environmental, Health, Safety, and Training roles, with at least 5 years in a senior or executive-level position.

- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field is preferred.

- However, extensive and directly relevant experience in environmental, health, safety, and training leadership— particularly in industrial or energy sectors—may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.

- Demonstrated success in leading EHS&T programs across geographically dispersed and operationally complex environments.

- Experience supporting or leading Environmental, Health, Safety, and Training initiatives at international sites is highly desirable. Familiarity with cross-border regulatory frameworks, multicultural team dynamics, and global operational standards will be considered a strong asset.

- A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is strongly desired. Candidates who do not currently hold a CSP should demonstrate the ability and commitment to obtain certification within a defined timeframe.

- Must be able to travel long distances by both car and air, including to remote or international locations as needed.

- Travel may involve extended durations and variable schedules to support field operations, site audits, emergency response, training delivery, and executive leadership engagements across the Electricity Segment.
