Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious EXPERIENCED Utility Line Locator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires a strong understanding of utility locating techniques, SUE work, and construction site safety protocols. The Utility Line Locator will work in various field environments, often on active construction sites, and must be capable of reading blueprints and efficiently executing sketches after every locate.
- Locate and mark underground utilities such as gas, water, electric, and various telecommunication lines using specialized equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, maps, and dig area information given from contractors.
- Create and build strong detailed sketches of every locate you work on.
- Maintain detailed records of utility locations and update maps accordingly.
- Collaborate with construction teams, and contractor prior to jobs to provide accurate utility information prior to excavation or drilling activities.
- Maintain strong communication with your team, contractors, and excellent organizational skills.
- Adhere to safety standards and protocols at all times during field operations.
- MUST have a personal vehicle 4x4 or AWD to use as a work vehicle. Gas cards will be provided.
- MUST live in the Denver and surrounding areas.
- Proven experience as a utility locator with a MINIMUM of 4+ years of utility locating experience in telecommunication, gas, electric, water and various private utilities. No exceptions.- Proven engineering utility locating or (SUE) work experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of construction site operations, blueprints, and excavation procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical drawings accurately.
- Ability to draw/sketch all locate jobs after every locate.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking efficient environment, and ability to work extensive hours of the day/week if necessary.
- Enter an on-call rotation.
- Strong understanding of underground utility systems and troubleshooting techniques and standards.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including walking long distances across construction sites, and city environments.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate vehicles.
