Job Overview – Transportation Supervisor

At Texas Iron and Metal, the Transportation Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of materials to and from our facility. This role is responsible for supervising drivers, coordinating deliveries and pickups, and maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.

The Transportation Supervisor oversees daily transportation operations, including scheduling routes, monitoring vehicle performance, and ensuring proper maintenance of the fleet. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment while ensuring deadlines and customer expectations are met.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork. They should have proven experience managing drivers, routing logistics, and handling transportation challenges in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and coordinate daily transportation operations, including driver schedules, routes, and load assignments.

- Recruiting, hiring and training of all drivers.

- Schedule and manage 3rd party carriers for both inbound and outbound deliveries.

- Ensure compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations.

- Oversee vehicle inspections, preventative maintenance, and repair schedules.

- Monitor and evaluate driver performance, providing training and feedback as needed.

- Collaborate with operations and sales team to ensure on-time deliveries and pickups that meet customer requirements.

- Address and resolve transportation issues such as delays, accidents, or customer concerns.

- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and respect within the transportation team.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 3 years previous experience in transportation supervision, dispatch, or logistics management.

- Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety compliance, and fleet management.

- Strong organizational and leadership skills.

- Ability to problem-solve under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

- Comfortable working outdoors and in industrial settings.

- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members, customers, and leadership.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
