ABOUT THE ROLE
The Transportation Manager is responsible for assisting all business processes and operations in the Transportation Department. In addition, the Transportation Manager regularly meets with customers, drivers, escorts and management while coordinating and scheduling deliveries to reach a goal of 100% customer satisfaction with opportunity for advancement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•Manages and organizes office operations and procedures, such as word processing, spreadsheets and flow of correspondence, filing, requisition of supplies, and other clerical services.
•Coordinates activities of various departments or workers within department.
•Evaluates transportation department, updates procedures, or devises new forms to improve efficiency of workflow.
•This position is similar to an Office Supervisor, but scope of unit supervised typically involves a larger number of employees and more varied office activities.
•Reviews clerical and personnel records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
•Plans and coordinates all scheduling with customers, drivers and escorts.
•Prepares activities reports for management to determine what is scheduled to be shipped.
•Assist with ordering permits
•Coordinates DOT requirements and compliance.
•Must be well organized, detail oriented, able to multi-task and dependable.
•Excellent phone skills with positive and pleasant personality.
•Requires being on the phone regularly and outside of normal business hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•2 year Degree preferred or equivalent experience
•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills
•Self starter with a strong work ethic
•Ability to work in a complex deadline-oriented environment
•Fluent in Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
•Experience with DOT regulations preferred
