Transportation Specialist

Role Description

Efficient, cost effective and timely delivery is a critical factor in achieving our customer service expectations. The Transportation Specialist will ensure the record keeping, processes and payment functions are timely and expedient. Additionally, managing third party deliveries at competitive rates with on-time service will ensure our continued customer satisfaction. Either five years prior work experience and/or bachelor’s degree.

Role Responsibilities

60%

Freight Planning – utilizing third party carriers, arrange freight to meet the delivery expectation of the customer. Included is carrier approval, developing carrier relationships, rate negotiations and coordination with the plants. Miscellaneous problem resolution and more.

30%

Transportation department administration – maintain record keeping which can include driver files, approved carrier files, freight invoice payment, prohibited material waivers, enter customer orders.

10%

Team support – cross training and filling in as needed to support the needs of the transportation department. This will include resolving driver issues & questions, scheduling deliveries and communicating with the plants. Other tasks as assigned.
