SUMMARY (brief description of job duties):
Tri Trucking transports propane and petroleum products for its parent company Tri Gas & Oil as well as others. Under the supervision of the Manager of Logistics and Rail, the Transport Dispatcher is responsible for the overall management of external and internal customer orders. Ensuring timely fulfillment while working cohesively with other members of the Wholesale, Transportation and Retail teams. The Transport Dispatcher will manage the truck Fleet and driver hours within current safety and Department of Transportation (DOT) parameters and regulations. The successful candidate for this position needs to be organized, able to adapt quickly, and collaborate with multiple teams. Dispatchers must be available for after-hours communication with drivers and the supply team.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE (licenses, educational level, years of experience, skills needed for the job, special demands of the job etc.):
•High School Diploma or GED
•1-3 years of experience in Dispatch, Freight, and/or Traffic Management
•Must be available to take phone calls and operate after normal business hours as needed
•Proficiency in Excel and Word preferred but not required
•The understanding of the fuel industry preferred
•Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, multitasking skills
•Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
WORKING CONDITIONS / EXPECTATIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and mobile devices. The noise level in the office can range from quiet to loud. This position requires after-hours communication with drivers and the supply team for load pull points.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role. The employee will sit and or stand a majority of their shift, communicate on the phone, view computer screens, paperwork and filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open cabinets bending or standing, stoop, and pull, or kneel as necessary. The employee must occasionally pull, lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS / DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES (description of what the employee is accountable for):
•Responsible for execution of the transport business including timely and efficient dispatch and delivery of LP/Petroleum operations, optimizing equipment utilization and maximizing truck efficiency.
•Responsible for ensuring safety and compliance to all regulations.
•Strong problem solving, decision making, and multi-tasking skills
•Route trucks to ensure the most efficient use of equipment, decreasing deadhead miles
•Develop and maintain excellent relationships and communication with drivers and staff.
•Identify opportunities, develop, and implement process improvement initiatives.
•Assist with implementation, streamlining, and management of efficient document flow including but not limited to Data Entry
•Collaborate with the Wholesale Sales Department for development of alternative ship load points.
•Monitor and manage orders, delivery volumes, freight calculations, and track deliveries to achieve key performance goals.
•Assist with monitoring product inventory at certain customer locations and all bulk plant locations
•Address delivery issues/concerns in a timely manner.
•Responsible for driver’s timekeeping/payroll
•Be the primary point of contact for drivers to ensure any issues or assistance is given in a timely manner
•Create load tickets as needed to all wholesale loads to show on dispatch board.
•Assist drivers with breakdown issues for a timely repair.
