Job Identification

Maintain constant contact with customers via telephone. Schedule orders to meet the customer's request for time and delivery. Assist customers in determining the time between loads to meet efficiency and production goals. This position reports to the Dispatch Manager.

Essential Job Functions

•

Schedule drivers to accommodate orders, taking into consideration other division work load requirements.

•

Contact regular customers that have not placed an order with you yet.

•

Obtain accurate information when taking an order by getting names and contact numbers along with complete details of the order.

•

Communicate, at the end of each business day, with the Operations Manager to ensure the proper amount of trucks will be operational for the next day.

•

Report all complaints from customers and drivers to your Plant manager.

•

Utilize the dispatch computer for order input and scheduling orders. Always have a current manual system backup in the event of a system failure.

•

Communicate frequently throughout the business day with other plants and divisions to ensure all customer needs are met. This may require scheduling an order with an outlying plant or division and switching orders around to best accommodate the customer. Document all customers you were unable to service and give to the Plant Manager.

•

Schedule orders and drivers to maintain production efficiency.

•

Communicate with drivers to ensure all extra products are on the truck while the truck is at the plant.

•

Communicate with drivers to ensure fuel efficient routes are taken to delivery location.

•

Must be able and willing to perform other job descriptions such as ready mix truck driver, dump truck driver, loader operator or other duties requested or assigned.

Job Requirements

•

Must be able to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors and management.

•

Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

•

Must be able to do simple math, such as addition and subtraction.

•

Must be able to work various hours to accommodate early and late concrete pours Monday through Saturday on a rotating schedule.

•

Must have and maintain a valid Class A or B CDL issued by the state of Georgia.

•

Must be able to pass a Federal Department of Transportation drug/alcohol screening and physical.

•

Must maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and company policy.

•

Must be able to deal with management, co-workers, in a diplomatic, manner in varied stressful situations.

•

Must be able to operate company vehicles and perform tasks in a safe manner and observe all safety requirements and policies.

•

Must have the ability to become concrete batchman certified through the Georgia D.O.T. following an allotted training period.

Physical Demands

•

This is moderately noisy and stressful work.

•

Requires sitting for the majority of the daily shift

•

Requires occasional walking to office equipment within office area.

•

Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds. (Storage boxes, related office items)

•

Must be willing and able to type on desktop computer keyboard.

•

Have knowledge of other job descriptions in which you may have to perform.

Environmental Conditions

•

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.

•

There is also exposure to cement, lime, concrete admixtures, dust, diesel fuel and other substances which may be toxic, cause burns or be explosive.
