Overview
The Dispatcher is responsible for allocating transport jobs, monitoring job progress, ensuring accurate records, and occasionally handling scale operations. This role involves coordinating with drivers, customers, and vendors to ensure timely job completion while maintaining accurate material weights, documentation, and regulatory compliance. The role also includes customer service, data entry, and inventory management to support efficient trucking and materials processing operations.
Responsibilities
Dispatching:
•Allocate transport jobs to drivers, ensuring compliance with business and regulatory requirements.
•Monitor job progress, update systems upon job completion, and address any issues impacting job costs or deadlines.
•Communicate with drivers, customers, and vendors to confirm job status and resolve any issues with incomplete jobs.
•Assist in organizing transport jobs based on type, locality, and urgency for optimal allocation.
•Provide support by preparing daily work schedules, missed load reports, and inventory reports.
•Record, resolve, and escalate complaints, ensuring timely resolution.
•Coordinate with maintenance for equipment repairs and provide roadside assistance when needed.
•Ensure all records and reports are accurate and comply with company and regulatory requirements.
Scale Operations:
•Accurately weigh incoming and outgoing trucks, maintaining detailed records of material weights.
•Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for all scale operations.
•Coordinate with yard personnel, drivers, and dispatchers for efficient material handling.
•Monitor materials for compliance with the company's material acceptance policies.
Additional Responsibilities:
•Provide excellent customer service to all drivers, customers, and vendors.

Qualifications:
•Two years of experience in an industrial transport environment or related field.
•Experience with scale operations or similar responsibilities in a trucking/industrial environment (preferred).
•Knowledge of applicable regulations and safety standards.
•Understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal (preferred).
