We’re looking for Transformer Technicians at all levels (I, II, III) to support transformer assembly, oil processing, testing, and on-site service for critical energy infrastructure projects across the U.S. These are hands-on field roles supporting power plants, substations, and industrial facilities, with increasing responsibility based on experience and capability. You’ll work in a safety-first, fast-paced environment with strong opportunities for growth and leadership.
- Assemble transformer components including radiators, bushings, conservators, and accessories
- Perform degassing, pressure, and vacuum testing using dehydrator units
- Re-gasket units and fabricate gaskets and O-rings as needed
- Assist with teardown and preparation of transformers for transport or disposal
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve wiring and mechanical issues (complexity increases by level)
- Complete assigned tasks and daily work orders accurately and on schedule
- Inspect, operate, and maintain tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment safely
- Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements when working near noise, electrical hazards, confined spaces, and elevated heights
- Support the sales team by reporting project opportunities and potential customer leads
- Lead and mentor junior technicians on job sites
- Perform and/or oversee advanced transformer testing (Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, Core Ground, passivation/system protection alarms)
- Interpret scopes of work, drawings, and technical documentation
- Troubleshoot transformer control wiring and ensure system reliability
- Oversee oil sampling, testing, and documentation
- Ensure environmental containment and strict safety compliance
- Document, review, and submit testing and service reports with high accuracy
- Coordinate job execution, equipment usage, and crew performance
- Serve as point of contact with customers, utilities, and OEM representatives
- Technician I: 0–2 years of experience in transformer oil processing, service, and/or assembly
- Technician II: 2–4 years of experience in transformer oil processing, service, and assembly
- Technician III: 5–10 years of experience in transformer oil processing, service, and assembly
- Familiarity with transformer components, oil systems, and field service practices
- Basic to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office and online platforms)
- Clear, professional communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.
- Ability to pass a background check, and drug/alcohol screening
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Availability for extended or irregular hours, including weekends and holidays
- Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights exceeding 100 feet, operate in confined spaces, and perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions- Good vision, hearing, and English proficiency to ensure safe and effective communication in noisy environments
- Experience with transformer oil filtration, testing, or disassembly
- Advanced Load Tap Changer experience
- Prior experience leading transformer service teams
- Knowledge of transformer teardown or disposal preparation procedures
- Experience working around energized equipment or substations
- Class A CDL, OSHA training, and/or TWIC card
- Technical training or certification in transformer repair or electrical systems
- Experience using shop equipment, electrical tools, test platforms, or transformer testing software/OEM systems
