Job Summary:
The Tool Room Designer is responsible for the design of advanced fixtures and tooling used in the manufacturing processes of customer products, ensuring alignment with both technical requirements and production efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Design holding fixtures, jigs, and gages for manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with quotes and internal specifications.
•Collaborate with freelance and outsourced designers, providing necessary resources, ensuring adherence to company tooling standards, and reviewing and approving their designs.
•Create 3D CAD models and 2D CAD drawings for all tooling components, incorporating comprehensive manufacturing specifications.
•Manage the addition of line items to sales orders and the creation of job orders within the ERP system, ensuring clarity and accuracy in manuring documentation,
•Develop and maintain job order routing structures and bills of material, detailing operations, raw materials, and purchased components.
•Work closely with the Project Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering teams to evaluate process requirements and deliver optimal tooling solutions.
•Ensure all required quotes and supporting documentation are properly attached to job orders in the ERP system for seamless workflow and information access.
•Communicate proactively with the Purchasing, Toolroom, and manufacturing teams to supply additional technical information as needed to support production.
•Partner with the Manufacturing, Toolroom, and Quality teams to verify tool functionality, make necessary adjustments, and implement design revisions when required.
•Provide expert level shop support for both current and legacy tooling, as well as for any continuous improvement initiatives involving tooling.
•Take on additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned, demonstrating leadership, adaptability, and technical expertise in tooling design.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, and three years of experience in tooling design, fixture design, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
•Experience with GibbsCAM programming, applying expertise to optimize machining processes and tooling designs.
•Experience working with ERP systems, with a focus on ensuring accurate data integration and supporting operational efficiency.
•Advanced computer skills, including a strong understanding or technical blueprints and GD&T, with demonstrated ability to apply these principles to practical design and manufacturing solutions.
