As a part of the thermal group, you will be part of developing next generation clean energy solutions, accelerating our progress towards a sustainable energy future. You will play a key role in the architecture, design, validation, of Generac’s clean energy products, with emphasis on design and validation of innovative thermal solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Architecting, designing, modeling, and validating thermal solutions in ESS/power electronics
- Building CFD models and instrumented thermal test vehicles to validate models
- Creating innovative product enabling thermal solutions that balance form and function
- Optimizing thermal solutions for performance, DFM/DFA, size, acoustics, reliability, cost
- Providing clear and actionable guidance to engineering teams for detailed design
- Sizing and selecting components for passive, air, liquid, and 2-phase thermal solutions
- Interfacing with thermal suppliers for component selection, validation, and integration
- Partnering with validation & reliability teams to define thermal test parameters
- Partnering with SW/FW to provide thermal policies for control algorithms
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Knowledge modeling passive-cooling, air cooling, liquid cooling, 2-phase, batteries, solar radiation
- Knowledge in sizing and selection of fans, radiators, heat sinks, heat pipes, etc.
- Knowledge with instrumentation and data acquisition methods for thermal validation
- Knowledge proficiency with Ansys, Flotherm, or Star CCM (or other leading CFD packages)
- Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
