Telecom Network Specialist III

Position Summary::

Provides design, implementation, and operational support for JEA networks. Responsible for complex installation and maintenance of network communication equipment and software to effectively communicate via a computer network.

Criteria:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in technical or business-related field and five years’ experience in computer networking.

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent verbal, written and customer relations skills. Ability to think logically in solving problems. Proficiency in Networking/Security, MS Server Services, Backup Solutions, Storage Area Networks, Network Diagnostics and Troubleshooting, Virtual Environment Management, and MS Applications.

Certifications/Licenses:

Required Certification: Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or equivalent certification.

Preferred Certifications:: A+ Certification, Network + Certification, Microsoft Certified Professional Certification and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (or MCSE equivalent technical expertise), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Brocade Professional vRouter Professional (BCVRP), Brocade Certified vRouter Engineer 2013 (BCVRE), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate-Junos (JNCIA-Junos), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS-SP), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP-SP), ACE L2 (Arista Certified Engineer Level 2)

Physical Demands:

The ability to use a computer keyboard effectively. The ability to orally communicate by phone and person. The ability to move and transport computer equipment. The ability to operate a standard equipped company vehicle. The ability to see and read printed material.

Work Environment:

Indoor office conditions. On-call rotation, weekend work and shift work.

Driving:

Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee Class “D” license.

Telephone:

Must maintain an operating telephone and furnish the number to his/her supervisor.
