Pea River Cooperative is currently seeking a Broadband Network Operations Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for handling Tier 2 network support calls and continuously monitoring the Pea River broadband network to ensure reliable and consistent service for subscribers. The ideal candidate will help maintain the department’s readiness to respond to network issues and outages, actively monitor overall system health, and respond to, troubleshoot, and escalate technical problems as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:
•Respond to incoming subscriber inquiries received via phone or through Network Operations Center (NOC) support, ensuring prompt resolution, high customer satisfaction, and full compliance with department policies.
•Monitor, respond and escalate, when necessary, to all alarm systems, operational dashboards, alarm logs, and alarm emails.
•Monitor systems for compliance with backup and disaster recovery plans.
•Work and communicate with other teams and departments to streamline outage resolutions.
•Perform regular system maintenance to network elements and systems at the direction of management and/or the Network Administrator.
•Maintain detailed records of network health and operations.
•Assist in the creation and maintenance of department documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
•Assist in the coordination of network upgrades and maintenance.
•Provision Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) for activation of data and voice services for both residential and commercial subscribers.
•Assist field technicians with on-site setup and troubleshooting.
•Research, update, and correct outside plant and network documentation as directed.
•Provide backup and after-hours dispatching duties as needed.
•Perform server maintenance, including system patches and reboots per department policies.
•Maintain in-depth knowledge of the Pea River Broadband network through continued learning and skill development.
•Participate in cross-training opportunities on a regular basis.
•Carry out other responsibilities as needed to support operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Associate degree (or higher) with 2+ years basic technical telecommunications experience OR a High School Diploma (or GED) with 4+ years technical experience with telecommunications products and/or services.
•Network + Certification.
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
•Must be able to work some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
