As Technician, Water, You will play a key role in supporting Newmont’s environmental and water management initiatives by executing laboratory and bench-scale testwork that ensures the quality and integrity of water-related projects. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining environmental compliance, improving process performance, and upholding our commitment to sustainable operations.
As Part of Our Team, You Will
- Conduct environmental and metallurgical testwork, including water quality analysis and data reporting.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and the MTF water treatment plant.
- Receive, prepare, and manage samples and consumables to support testing programs.
- Record procedures, observations, and results with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Handle hazardous materials safely and follow established disposal procedures.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and coordinate with vendors or technical partners.
- Execute inspections, report findings, and contribute to continuous improvement of lab practices.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
- Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 2 plus years of experience in laboratory operations, environmental testing, or water treatment.
- Strong understanding of water chemistry, sample preparation, and environmental testwork techniques.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven ability to follow safety protocols and hazardous materials handling standards.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
You’ll be based within the Technical Services Water Laboratory at the MTF, collaborating closely with scientists, process engineers, and other technical experts. The role is hands-on, laboratory-based, and may occasionally require travel to support Newmont’s global operations. You’ll work in a structured, safety-first environment that values quality, precision, and teamwork.
