Job Summary
The Technical Trainer plans, prepares and delivers training programs to meet the development needs of the employees. Provides quality, timely and innovative training curriculum, including but not limited to: safety and applications along with training within Gas Operations job classifications. Builds and maintains working relationships with operations, construction, engineering, customer operations, etc. while meeting their business needs. Assess course and curriculum development. Takes actions to ensure employees are properly prepared to work safely, effectively and in compliance with all Regulatory, OSHA and industry requirements. This role also makes final determination on employee training and work readiness/progression status. Works together with field operations and On the Job Trainers to determine employee competency to determine and deliver competency training as needed.
Essential Functions
Technical Trainer 2:
- Leads learning events to build student knowledge and skills with a primary focus on gas operation and maintenance, service, M&R, engineering, and other operations activities
- Integrates classroom training, hands on practice and simulation, and on the job training (OJT) events that maximize student learning
- Delivers training initiatives that provide practical in field experience for employees to build employees mastery
- Identifies and recommends classroom and hands on training activity improvements while working with curriculum team to continually improve training activities
- Directs the planning, execution, delivery, and facilitation of all training programs in specified disciplines
- Provides training recommendation to governance process
- Provides training recommendations to Operator Qualifications/Certifications programs to ensure employees are able to demonstrate knowledge and hands-on competency
- Manage & direct the work of trainees while in training courses
- Promotes a safe work environment by actively participating in all aspects of employee safety program and support our interdependent safety culture by ensuring the safety of co-workers
- Independently provides learning activities for more complex courses to improve student knowledge
- Oversees training of tech trainer 1
- Implements/trains learning initiatives that provide practical in field experience for employees
- Identifies/reacts to learning opportunities, while developing employees towards masterly level of job positions
- Partners with operations management to identify training needs and delivers programs to ensure compliance
- Identifies needs and participates with Gas Standard reviews within operations
- Researches, analyzes and applies current technology and related training by reviewing periodicals, journals, attending seminars, etc. to continuously improve training courses
- Monitors energy industry trends, analyzes potential impacts and recommends strategic approaches
Technical Trainer 3 (Includes Technical Trainer 2 duties plus):
- Leads learning events that build student knowledge and skill with a primary focus on gas activities
- Directs classroom training, hands on practice and simulation, and on the job training (OJT) events that maximize student learning
- Implements/trains learning initiatives that provide practical in field experience for employees
- Leads a Training governance program
- Subject matter expert for curriculum development
- Develops and maintains working relationships with front line leaders to be aware of trainee experiences and knowledge
- Monitors energy industry trends, analyzes potential impacts and recommends strategic approaches
Required Qualifications For Position
Technical Trainer 2 Required Qualifications- 3+ years of experience in gas utility with M&R experience and background in training within a related utility, skilled trades, emergency response community, or in training military personnel
- Experience delivering effective technical training & evaluation programs
- Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of PC applications/skills
- Knowledge of maintenance and operating procedures and processes used in the programs assigned
- Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of PC applications/skills (PST, LMS, Onboard, WMS, MDTs, etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance and operating procedures and processes used in the programs assigned
- Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills
- Advanced knowledge of PC applications/skills (PST, LMS, Onboard, WMS, MDTs, etc.)
- Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement (where applicable)
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid Driver's License Upon Hire
- Estimated travel up to 25%- 5+ years of experience in gas utility with M&R experience and background in training within a related utility, skilled trades, emergency response community, or in training military personnel
- Extensive experience in delivering effective technical training & evaluation programs
- Previous experience as a facilitator for various size groups
- Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of PC applications/skills
- Knowledge of maintenance and operating procedures and processes used in the programs assigned
- Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of PC applications/skills (PST, LMS, Onboard, WMS, MDTs, etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance and operating procedures and processes used in the programs assigned

- Estimated travel up to 25%- 8+ years of experience in natural gas utility with M&R experience and background in training within a related utility, skilled trades, emergency response community, or in training military personnel
- Extensive experience in delivering effective technical training to multiple levels of the organization
- Expert understanding of adult learning methods
- Demonstrated mastery of competencies for the Senior Trainer level position
- Excellent facilitation skills or for various size groups
- Subject matter expert for Technical expertise in related discipline
- Demonstrated the ability to develop and leverage relationships within and across work groups to achieve results
- Advanced understanding of State/Federal gas pipeline regulations
- Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated proficiency of PC applications/skills (PST, LMS, Onboard, WMS, MDTs, etc.)
- Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement (where applicable)
- Estimated travel up to 25%
- Bachelor's Degree
- other technical related certifications or equivalent field experience Upon Hire
The successful candidate will be considered for one of the three levels listed below based off of experience.
SALARY INFORMATION Salary Range:- Technical Trainer 2: 79,800.00 - 119,600.00 USD Annual
- Technical Trainer 3: 93,800.00 - 140,700.00 USD Annual
- Senior Technical Trainer: 93,800.00 - 140,700.00 USD Annual

Salary Range*:
$79,800.00 - $119,600.00
- The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
