Job Summary
The Technical Trainer plans, prepares and delivers training programs to meet the development needs of the employees. Provides quality, timely and innovative training curriculum, including but not limited to: safety and applications along with training within Gas Operations job classifications. Builds and maintains working relationships with operations, construction, engineering, customer operations, etc. while meeting their business needs. Assess course and curriculum development. Takes actions to ensure employees are properly prepared to work safely, effectively and in compliance with all Regulatory, OSHA and industry requirements. This role also makes final determination on employee training and work readiness/progression status. Works together with field operations and On the Job Trainers to determine employee competency to determine and deliver competency training as needed.
Essential Functions
- Leads learning events to build student knowledge and skills with a primary focus on gas operation and maintenance, service, M&R, engineering, and other operations activities
- Integrates classroom training, hands on practice and simulation, and on the job training (OJT) events that maximize student learning
- Delivers training initiatives that provide practical in field experience for employees to build employees mastery
- Identifies and recommends classroom and hands on training activity improvements while working with curriculum team to continually improve training activities
- Directs the planning, execution, delivery, and facilitation of all training programs in specified disciplines
- Provides training recommendation to governance process
- Provides training recommendations to Operator Qualifications/Certifications programs to ensure employees are able to demonstrate knowledge and hands-on competency
- Manage & direct the work of trainees while in training courses
- Promotes a safe work environment by actively participating in all aspects of employee safety program and support our interdependent safety culture by ensuring the safety of co-workers
Technical Trainer 2: (Includes Technical Trainer 1 duties plus):
- Independently provides learning activities for more complex courses to improve student knowledge
- Oversees training of tech trainer 1
- Implements/trains learning initiatives that provide practical in field experience for employees
- Identifies/reacts to learning opportunities, while developing employees towards masterly level of job positions
- Partners with operations management to identify training needs and delivers programs to ensure compliance
- Identifies needs and participates with Gas Standard reviews within operations
- Researches, analyzes and applies current technology and related training by reviewing periodicals, journals, attending seminars, etc. to continuously improve training courses
- Monitors energy industry trends, analyzes potential impacts and recommends strategic approaches- 3+ years of experience in gas industry and background in training within a related utility, skilled trades, emergency response community, or in training military personnel
- Experience delivering effective technical training & evaluation programs
- Knowledge of maintenance and operating procedures and processes used in the programs assigned
- Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of PC applications/skills (PST, LMS, Onboard, WMS, MDTs, etc.)
- Estimated travel up to 20%
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid driver's license
