Responsible for developing and delivering technical training for Electric Meter Technicians and Lab Technicians including classroom and hands-on instruction. Supports AMI project training in EMA and WMA, evaluates tools and equipment, updates procedures, conducts quality audits, and certifies field employees.
- Design and conduct technical training sessions for Revenue Metering personnel
- Utilize both theoretical and practical instructional approaches
- Support field and meter lab employee training, including AMI project initiatives in EMA and WMA
- Participate in the evaluation and testing of new tools, materials, and equipment
- Maintain and revise standards and procedures to reflect current best practices
- Conduct quality assurance audits to ensure compliance and performance
- Oversee supervision evaluations and certification of field employees
- Works with field personnel and supervisors to analyze job tasks and current field performance to determine training needs and program content.
- Effectively implements training programs, assessments, and employee evaluations .
- Supervises, directs and instructs trainees during classroom, hands-on training assignments.
- Evaluates performance during training and follows up on students learning through field visits, observations and refresher training.
- Incorporates new procedures and new equipment into training programs.
- Develops and maintains annual training schedules and communicates schedules to stakeholders as necessary
- Requires knowledge of utility revenue metering design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles and practices, safety standards and business processes.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to present theory and concepts, as well as hands-on technical instruction with clarity, confidence and enthusiasm.
- Requires leadership and coaching abilities.
- Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g. Microsoft Word & Excel).
- Working knowledge of labor contracts.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, related discipline or equivalent experience
- Five (5) plus years of experience in Transmission, Distribution and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers and supervising employees
