IDS GeoRadar, NA has an immediate opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer as part of the IBIS Team in Canada located at Calgary, AB. The IBIS radar systems are used to monitor ground movements in potentially unstable slopes to determine the risk of failure of that specific slope and alert the end user for any preventative actions.
As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
- Commissioning, maintenance and decommissioning of the IBIS ground based synthetic aperture radar systems
- Training the customers on IBIS radar systems and software
- Training the support team members on additional analysis and processing software, troubleshooting, and testing procedures, commissioning, maintenance, and decommissioning practices.
- Assisting the customers and the support team via phone calls and/or emails for any questions, issues and concerns on IBIS Radar systems and software
- Providing customer support by taking part in the 24/7 on-call rotations
- Troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and preparing shipments of any IBIS Radar system equipment to a customer site, support team member on site, or back to the manufacturer
- Maintaining good work habits along with good care of company provided tools, phones, and laptops
- Tracking any customer support issues accurately in Salesforce case management database
The position requires travel at least 50% of the time, within Canada, but may also require outside of Canada, for example, US, and Italy where it will be required to work outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions. Work trips typically can be 5-7 days, dependent on customer location. In some cases, the work trip could be longer than 7 days. The work trips can be scheduled with minimal notice.
- Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred with an academic focus and or strong accumulated skills in electrical, mechanical, geotechnical engineering, or geo-science-related field.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and circuits
- Ability to travel 50% of the time with minimal notice which might be on the weekends and/or Holidays.
- Ability to participate in a 24/7 technical support on-call rotation which will require work to be before and after business hours including the weekends and holidays.
- Good understanding of InSAR principles and theories
- An understanding of networking and communication between various devices in a network
- Good understanding of structural geology, geological principles, and their applications for slope movement analyses
- Knowledge of basic small diesel engines and repair experience
- Ability to tow and maneuver a utility trailer
- Experience of at least 1 year in the mining field
