Springdale Water Utilities is now accepting applications for the position of Technical Services Groundskeeper
Under supervision of the Technical Services Director, perform a variety of grounds keeping duties to maintain the appearance and upkeep of grounds and lift station locations owned by Springdale Water Utilities. The Groundskeeper provides skilled and unskilled labor during the growing season to operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment and tools; and performs other assignments in the technical services department during the off season. This is a safety sensitive position.
Incumbents are normally expected to work 40 hours per week.
The following are indicative of the general duties and responsibilities:
· Mow Springdale Water properties and assigned adjacent areas
· Trim and edge around sidewalks and all structures owned by the Utility
· Perform landscaping and beautification activities at the Utility
· Assist technical services department as needed during down time or off season
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES TO MEET JOB REQUIREMENTS
· Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance procedures including mowing, edging, raking, and weeding
· Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment used in grounds keeping
· Ability to perform general grounds maintenance duties including mowing, edging, and weeding
· Ability to learn schedules and procedures quickly
· Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
· Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with others
· Knowledgeable in the fundamentals of workplace health and safety regulations and demonstrate the ability to work safely and efficiently
· Ability to attend work on a regular and dependable basis
· Ability to recognize and respond quickly to emergencies

Grounds keeping duties require the physical strength to perform hard manual labor and to occasionally lift heavy items. In the off season, bending and lifting of objects greater than 50 pounds and operation of warehouse equipment is possible.
Grounds keeping personnel are expected to work outdoors in inclement weather and in several different environments. Daily work assignments require walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, controls and reaching with hands and arms.
High school education desirable. Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to read comprehend equipment safety/warning instructions, Material Safety Data Sheets, and equipment operating and maintenance manuals.
