Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic and results-driven professionals to join our team in the role of Technical Engineer/ Officer to join the Advanced Inspection and Maintenance team, with opportunities available to support Fuel Channels and Reactor Components & Structures or Feeders/ Steam Generators.
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, these positions are responsible to provide support for inspection and maintenance program for planned outage campaigns; analyzing plant information; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify trends; providing troubleshooting solutions; and advocating for opportunities to improve component health.
- Fuel Channels and Reactor Components & Structures positions: Responsible for supporting Fuel Channels and Reactor Components & Structures inspection and maintenance campaigns for the planned outages, component health by monitoring and analyzing inspection data and assessment results, identifying trends, and providing fitness for service condition monitoring; Support inspection and maintenance recommendations as required per fitness-for-service guidelines and compliance to periodic inspection program and component evaluation requirements (CSA N285.4, CSA N285.8, etc.);
- Feeders/ Steam Generators positions: Responsible for supporting Feeder Pipes and auxiliary components and/or Steam Generator inspection and maintenance campaigns for the planned outages, component health by monitoring and analyzing inspection data and assessment results, identifying trends, and providing fitness for service condition monitoring; Support inspection and maintenance recommendations as required per fitness-for-service guidelines and compliance to periodic inspection program and component evaluation requirements (CSA N285.4, etc.);
- Support scope closure and outage restart activities
- Developing, reviewing, and optimizing the maintenance strategies and life cycle management
- Provide engineering advice or direction as required (i.e., for risk assessments, dispositions, scope changes, investigations, etc.).
- Working with a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical specialists to support the operation of the components.
- Developing, planning, supporting and tracking the execution of projects in compliance with the industry's demanding set of regulations and standards.
- Provide manufacturing and design inputs, and support engineering oversight of manufacturing, procurement, installation and commissioning of new major components
- Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems.
- Co-ordinate the clarification of specification requirements, arrange for necessary changes, and/or co-ordinate technical work as required in a number of major work areas.
- Maintain and/or update operating and other specified department/divisional procedures.
- Perform documentation reviews to ensure work performed is fully documented and has a complete set of records available.
- Provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems and coordinate work as required, in a number of major work areas, in support of the commissioning, operation and maintenance of the facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, materials, or nuclear disciplines preferred)
- Minimum 2 years (ideally 4 years plus) of related experience
- Knowledge of non-destructive examination techniques.
- Strong understanding of materials science, corrosion, and/or deformation mechanics
- Fuel Channels and Reactor Components & Structures positions: Application of CSA N285.4 periodic inspection programs and CSA N285.8 technical requirements for in-service evaluation of zirconium alloy pressure tubes; Knowledge of relevant materials science/engineering principles, Fuel Channel and Reactor Components & Structures design, and material degradation mechanisms
- Feeders/ Steam Generator positions: Application of CSA N285.4 periodic inspection programs, CSA N285.0 requirements for pressure-retaining systems and components, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III; Knowledge of relevant materials science/engineering principles, Feeder Pipes and Supports and/or Steam Generators design, and material degradation mechanisms
- Candidates must be eligible to be licensed as an engineer in the Province of Ontario

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
