Wood is recruiting for a Technical Architect, Senior to join its Operations Americas business focusing on the Chemical manufacturing industry. This opportunity is on-site at our client's facility in Narrows VA.
Summary: The Senior Technology Architect is responsible for designing and integrating applications, infrastructure, and digital systems to ensure seamless functionality that supports organizational business needs and enhances company performance. This role requires technical expertise to identify opportunities for optimizing existing systems and technology.
The Senior Technology Architect works independently, providing strategic guidance and mentoring junior team members. Key responsibilities include creating technical designs, managing integration processes, driving digital innovation, and ensuring adherence to security-by-design principles. The role also involves collaborating with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Design and implement technical solutions, architectures, and integrations for new and existing applications and technologies.
- Review and assess external provider solutions to ensure alignment with business needs, including validating time and cost estimates.
- Document "as-is" and "to-be" processes, outlining required changes for migration.
- Oversee project delivery and ensure quality solutions from third-party providers and vendors.
- Identify emerging technologies to reduce costs and improve business outcomes.
- Develop proof of concepts and prototypes to demonstrate new technologies and improvements.
- Champion modern application development practices and embed them in processes and systems.
- Create cost-effective roadmaps for retiring legacy systems and migrating to new solutions.
- Lead, motivate, and develop team members to achieve individual and team goals.
- Promote knowledge sharing and team development across digital and IT teams.
- University degree or technical diploma in computer science or a related technical field (Essential).
- 5-7 years of experience in a related role.
- Proven experience in strategic technology planning, execution, and policy development.
- Solid understanding of digital, infrastructure, or software systems and their integration capabilities.
- Extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms, software applications, and outsourced systems.
- Technical expertise in systems networking, databases, web development, and user support.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and the ability to apply technology solutions to business problems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff.
- High levels of integrity and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
