· Execute Daily Department & Team Activities to ensure smooth flow, align on customer priorities, and ensure efficient and accurate execution of orders & instructions. Adopt, model & uphold standard work processes for all department functions.
· Communicate. Lead all T1 meetings, participate in all T2 meetings, escalate, adjust priorities & provide feedback to team members to ensure growth & development. Coordinate the activities of each team member to add value. Ensure alignment of upstream and downstream teams with customer priority.
· Coach and Assist Team Members. Enable team members to interact and solve problems. Partner with production staff members to assist in team member skill development to meet daily operational objectives. Assist with root cause identification & corrective action implementation, and problem resolution.
· Drive LEAN and Continuous Improvement activity by leading, facilitating, and participating in kaizens, waste identification/elimination. Improve asset utilization (OEE, Earned Hours) and throughput in the department to drive customer satisfaction and internal goals of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Safety, Quality, Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability & Continuous Improvement
- Leadership
- Lead a small team of individual contributors and process experts in the hardware/assembly department.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure employees adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and production deadlines.
- Promote teamwork, collaboration, and a positive work environment.
- Hardware and Assembly Operations
- Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of hardware and assembly departments, meeting production goals and customer deadlines.
- Monitor the use of tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime.
- Quality Control
- Ensure products meet specifications, drawing and customer criteria, including visual inspections and product testing.
- Ensure all parts and products are accurately produced, aligned, and finished according to design and safety standards.
- Inventory & Materials Management
- Oversee the inventory of materials used in the hardware and assembly process, ensuring adequate supply levels.
- Work with procurement to order materials and ensure timely availability to avoid production delays.
- Use and comply with all systems and documentation for inventory management, including Epicor Kinetics and supplier-managed inventory systems.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed in the hardware and assembly area, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and machinery.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations within the workplace.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial environment.
- Familiarity with using assembly tools, power tools, and basic machinery.
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in manufacturing or a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a lead role, preferably within a sheet metal, assembly, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes related to sheet metal fabrication, assembly processes and hardware installation.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a factory environment.
