Summary:
Strata is seeking an experienced capital markets executive with a proven track record of managing renewable energy development, construction, and operational stage project financings in addition to large corporate financings. The candidate will work closely with Strata’s development and IPP teams to craft short and long-term corporate financing strategies to manage development capital needs and long-term capital requirements for asset ownership. The candidate will report directly to the CFO and will be tasked with managing Strata’s liquidity needs for the development, IPP, O&M, and EPC departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Provides hands-on leadership, guidance, mentorship, training, development, and performance management to the capital markets department, comprised of both project finance and corporate finance teams
•Ensures that the project finance/capital markets organization is optimally structured and sized to support the needs of the business
•Responsible for sourcing the different capital needs of the company, including debt, tax equity, and sponsor equity
•Provide support and oversight to the structuring, negotiation and execution of both project financings and corporate financings
•Manage key relationships with capital providers including tax equity investors and lender institutions
•Ensure company-established project underwriting criteria are incorporated into financing structures; evaluate risks, sensitivities, and opportunities to improve from underwriting base cases
•Prepare internal, investor and lender presentations, analyze term sheets and proposals and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to manage timely approval and closing processes
•Identify and monitor project and portfolio level financial risks and provide recommendations to mitigate exposures
•Review PPA pricings for both bilateral offtake negotiations and competitive RFP bid submissions
•Work collaboratively with the development team to ensure alignment with key structuring inputs and assumptions
•Monitor industry trends and developments in areas such as ITC, PTC, direct pay, tariffs, supply chain, interest rates, Libor transition, and merchant forecasts
•Manage project finance team resource allocation and priorities to provide timely, and reliable support to other departments
•Prepare periodic management reporting and policy compliance
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
•Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related
•Minimum 10 (ten) years of relevant industry experience in project finance, leveraged finance, M&A, or renewable energy business development
•Experience serving in an executive leadership role; preferably in a renewable energy development or IPP firm
•Advanced knowledge of solar, solar + storage, and stand-alone storage project financings
•Familiarity with debt and tax equity documentation principles
•Established relationships with renewable energy industry lenders and tax equity investors
•Ability to manage debt and tax equity partner due diligence and closing process
•Experience in detailed Financial Modeling of tax equity and debt transactions and Valuation of relevant companies and markets; including advanced Excel skills
•Strong commercial, technical, analytical, and problem-solving ability
•Rigorous and detailed orientated with the highest regard for accuracy and completeness
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in an integrated team environment
