About Our Operation
The Support and Development Center provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, supply chain, human resources, communications, construction as well as technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, infrastructure, marketing, innovation, and digital transformation).
Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Director of Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will have responsibilities for the coordination of activities linked with the Health, Safety, Environment and Community Relations (HSEC) management system (RMMS) and the related external standards to which the company adheres. You will also play a pivot role in developing and supporting Agnico Eagle’s Sustainability Management Systems, encouraging a culture of excellence and compliance. You will also have to work with multidisciplinary teams and create an environment conducive to collaboration and openness to maximize RMMS benefits.
Coordination and Support•Prepare and lead the quarterly RMMS Specialists meetings; communicate relevant information and coordinate dialogue within the group;
•Build relationships with key stakeholders within the organization and promote accountability for sustainability systems maintenance across the company;
•Facilitate lessons learned, investigations and risk assessments exercises as required;
Audits and Performance Evaluation
•Lead and facilitate audits with sites and corporate, and provide support to post-audit action plans, as required. This may require interactions with external support (e.g. consultants);
•Communicate and execute the integrated audit program and schedule. Ensure adequate follow up on audit planning to ensure adequate progress and conformity;
•Support sites as necessary for external verification processes;
•Conduct inspections, quality audits, conformity audits, or other internal verifications;
•Provide guidance and review for annual self-assessment (sites and corporate) for standards to which the company adheres. Assist with maintaining quality and respect of deadlines. Coordinate necessary external reviews and reporting on those standards to ensure compliance;
•Review and issue summary reports and presentations on audit and performance evaluation results;
•Assist management in communicating audit results both internally and externally as required;
•Act as an internal auditor as required;
•Train and mentor internal audit team;
Continuous Improvement
•Assist with the development, maintenance and implementation of new policies, corporate standards, procedures, as required, seeking input from RMMS Specialists and other internal stakeholders;
•Ensure adequate update and maintenance of RMMS documentation;
•Evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability systems;
•Seek constant improvement in efficiencies and ways to streamlining management systems; make recommendations to management;
•Ensure effective implementation of new or updated systems and programs;
Systems and Sustainability Expertise
•Maintain a good working knowledge of current regulations, codes, standards and industry best practices associated with sustainability and management systems, and act as a resource to corporate and sites HSEC representatives;
•Support sites when it comes to protocols and standards interpretation;
•Demonstrate strong commitment to HSEC policies, standards and procedures. Promote sustainability vision, mission and best practices;
•Develop and maintain a professional network in order to stay up to date with reference to standards and sustainability systems;
•Disseminate information and share success for the benefit of all the organization.
What You Need To Succeed
•University education in sustainability management, management systems or a related field;
•5+ years of experience in environment or sustainability management systems or a related field;
•Familiarity with ISO 14000;
•Experience and competence in developing and implementing management systems, procedures and policies;
•Proven ability to audit management systems and to lead meetings (Auditor certification highly regarded);
•Knowledge and understanding of the following standards: Towards Sustainable Mining, Cyanide Code, Responsible Gold Mining Principles, Voluntary Principles of Security and Human Rights;
•Be familiar with and competent in researching/interpreting federal, provincial and local regulations and standards;
•An understanding of mining operational activities is considered an asset;
•Ability to build and manage relationships with key internal stakeholders and external consultants;
•Must have advanced proficiency in MS Office applications;
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills in French and English;
•Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset.
Your Work Schedule
•Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday teleworking, or from one of our offices in Toronto, Timmins, Montreal or Abitibi. Occasional travel may be required.
