Leads and directs the operation and maintenance activities of the fleet, ensuring a safe, efficient, cost-competitive operation which complies with all regulatory and labor agreement requirements.
Ensures the fleet equipment, the fleet maintenance and operations activities, and fleet facilities are safe, efficient, and in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
Leads and directs fleet maintenance and operations personnel using a team approach, to effectively balance corporate, internal fleet customer, team, and team-member requirements, including maximizing customer service and satisfaction levels, along with minimization of the associated costs.
Communicates and builds partnership relationships with all levels of internal team bargaining unit, leadership, and external suppliers, customers, and regulatory personnel.
Evaluates fleet maintenance and operations policies and procedures using benchmarking, performance measures, analyses, and process improvement tools to ensure continuous improvement and a competitive advantage for the services provided. This includes developing common fleet policies and procedures for both north and south regions of the company.
Provides support for the other fleet functions, such as fleet engineering, fleet administration, and fleet safety as required to ensure the overall team goals are achieved.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Monitors and enforces all compliance requirements for area of responsibility.
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment Education and Work Experience
Associate’s degree from an accredited school plus 5 or more years of related experience.
Candidates that do not possess an associate’s degree must have a minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with comparable heavy equipment, maintenance and operations utility fleet. Demonstrated planning, time management, verbal and written communication, decision making, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills.
