Job Responsibilities and Duties:
At Sibanye-Stillwater, the Supervisor - Engineering is responsible for owning the fundamental engineering aspects within their scope of work. The Supervisor – Engineering will Lead team to maximum mine operations through safely optimizing mine systems, planning, and procedures. This Supervisor oversees multiple working groups and takes appropriate action in supporting a positive and inclusive work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Create and publish mining consumable forecasts with a deep understanding of the business – able to influence the bottom line.
•Develops Project Estimations and utilizes it in all aspects of mining Engineering – Order of Magnitude Study, Scoping Study, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, etc.
•Ability to calculate time value of money, rate of return, present worth and other key financial metrics.
•Responsible for producing an accurate and achievable forecast that meets budgeted targets.
•Oversees the development of the 0-2 year budget physicals.
•Develop the 10 year and 25-year strategic plans to ensure the 2-year budget and forecasts align with long range milestones.
•Assist with preparation of monthly and yearly operating budgets with emphasis on capital expenditures, the justification of such and procurement of services required.
•Work with operations to overcome any forecasted bottlenecks.
•Assist with projects ranging from simple to complex and encompassing all facets of the operation.
•Develops ad presents material on complex processes to site and corporate leadership.
•Ability to take on complex tasks with no supervision and be able to identify areas of improvement with little consulting.
•Understand and budget for future production goals factoring in all infrastructure associated with achieving set goals.
Qualifications and Skills:
•Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
•Proven ability to work autonomously, as well as, within a team-based environment.
•Intermediate to advance understanding of MSHA regulations.
•Familiarity with cost reporting and cost tracking analysis.
•Familiarity with rock mechanics and mine ventilation principles.
•Strong computer skills in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
•Proven mine planning and scheduling experience.
•Proficient use of the Vulcan / Deswik or other 3D mine design planning software packages.
Education & Experience
•BS in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of mine engineering experience.
•Previous supervisory experience preferred.
