The Strategic Marketing Director reports to the VPGM and will be responsible for driving the development and execution of all product management and marketing activities for the Alpine business to meet strategic objectives and deliver financial goals. The incumbent will partner with the leadership team to develop and execute the Annual Plan/Long Range Plan based on in-depth knowledge of market segmentation, trends, customer needs and competitive advantage.
- Ownership for building the division CBI strategy; understands long-term trends and technology implications for Alpine’s suite of solutions to identify divisional CBI yield and path to full potential.
- Has in-depth market and customer understanding; is able to convert marketing insights into key growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with Commercial organization to create customer mapping – understanding decision makers and influencers at target accounts.
- Leads the identification of new opportunities; work in conjunction with Sales, Engineering, Software Development and Solutions Delivery teams to compile and prioritize pipeline opportunities using impact vs. effort analysis to create sales funnel with high confidence to convert opportunities into sold business.
- Actively influences and drives the priority, quantity and quality of pipeline projects, including short and long-term, defend and growth opportunities.
- Has courage to kill projects when no longer aligned with key division indicators of success.
- Drive accountability and prioritization through business case development and balanced risk analysis and transparent project management execution.
- Strong support of CBI process execution to drive technology breakthroughs, implement new product development plans using a methodical, data-driven and cross-functional “outside in” approach to deliver on all required outcomes of the process.
- Drive Voice of Customer (VOC) & product road map to solve customer pain points
- Ensure a deep understanding of core product portfolio and drive understanding of differentiated value proposition within commercial teams and with customers.
- Ensure internal stakeholder buy-in and visibility to product & application roadmaps and product lifecycle assessments for the division.
- Manage IP portfolio by ensuring new technology is properly protected and existing IP is evaluated and compared to the IP landscape of our key competition. Work closely with Group Technology Counsel on strategy and filings and engagement to defend IP in the marketplace.
- Partner with HR to develop a structure, competencies and skill set that supports our growth initiatives and actively drives CBI talent needs
- Build pipeline through external hiring and targeted development plans of current staff; identify and accelerate development of hi-potential talent
- Drive aggressive growth mindset within both functional and cross-functional teams
- Fosters a culture of engagement and inclusivity, cascades a vision, and creates goal alignment across the division.

- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree - B.A. / B.S. from four-year College or University in Engineering; Master’s Degree in Business or Marketing is a plus
- 7+ years in progressive business management, including several years leading engineering, sales and/or marketing teams- Prior experience successfully leading a marketing team in a complex environment, ideally with a mix of durable goods and software and/or a technically advanced product
- Strong track record of differentiated product development and customer back innovation process
- Experience in data driven business analytical approaches, reporting, and deriving of decisions
- 80/20 and aggressive growth mindset, ability to prioritize. Commitment to use the ITW Toolbox and its principles
- Proven ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a result driven, team-oriented environment
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with experience in communicating and working with remote stakeholders
- Personally driven and motivates others to excel
- Willing to travel up to 25%; primarily domestic
Certain states require that pay information be included in job postings. The specific hiring rate within the posted pay range will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience, and the geographic location. For example, In Illinois, the pay rate will be between $185,000-$215,000 (highly experienced).
