A Staff Accountant is a professional position responsible for accounting, reviewing, auditing, and analyzing transactions and activities. This position performs central accounting activities related to the following functions: accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, payroll processing, general accounting and/or assisting in the annual audit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)
· Serves as the Payroll Administrator in ADP Workforce Now and is responsible for all payroll-related activities.
· Performs cash management services such as Positive Pay, ACH controls, bank transfers, ACH payments, Wires etc.
· Prepares and enters recurring and adjusting journal entries.
· Reconciles bank accounts, general ledger accounts, receivable accounts, and/or payroll related accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
· Compiles reports, charts, and/or graphs to aid in analysis of various functions and processes.
· Monitors, verifies, and researches transactions related to various accounting activities.
· Performs analysis to help identify inefficiencies and delays; makes recommendations for improvements or necessary changes
· Performs special projects, studies, and collects and compiles statistical and financial data for special reports as directed.
· Creates and maintains necessary spreadsheets or databases for supporting documentation, record keeping, auditing, and verification purposes.
· Assists in the development and implementation of departmental and cross functional process improvements and internal controls.
· Assists with documenting processes including the development of flow charts and Standard Operating Procedures.
· Assist Accounting Manager in the preparation of the annual audit, providing information to auditors and researching issues as needed.

· Associate degree in accounting OR Associate degree in related field with credits in principles of accounting, managerial accounting, and/or intermediate accounting from an accredited college or university.
· General Skills – Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
· Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
· Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
· Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Computer Skills – Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word to include pivot tables, linking spreadsheets, using advanced formulas, creating form letters from mail merge, etc. Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains to include all software applications, modules and functions.
