We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Accountant to lead the accounting aspects of payroll operations. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance. You’ll play a key role in integrating payroll data into broader financial systems and ensuring accuracy in reporting.
- Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries, including accruals, benefit allocations, and intercompany transactions.
- Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts and ensure alignment with financial statements.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes with accurate payroll accounting data.
- Analyze variances and trends in payroll-related expenses and provide insights to finance leadership.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and internal reports that reflect payroll impacts.
- Ensure payroll accounting practices comply with internal controls, SOX requirements, and audit standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide documentation and resolve inquiries.
- Maintain documentation of payroll accounting procedures and ensure updates
- Reflect regulatory changes.
- Partner with HR, Payroll Services, and Finance teams to ensure accurate integration of payroll data into financial systems.
- Provide accounting guidance on payroll-related projects, including system upgrades and policy changes.
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by supplying accurate payroll cost data.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation (or actively pursuing).
- 3–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably with exposure to payroll-related financial reporting.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Workday).
- Knowledge of general payroll and accounting standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with cost allocations and reconciliations.
- Familiarity with inter-affiliate payroll accounting and error resolution.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
