Job Description:
The Sr. Contracts Administrator will assist with legal and financial terms in wholesale energy and gas commercial and industrial trading contracts and is responsible for handling all stages of the contract process from initial drafting to execution serving as the primary liaison with Front Office and the key point of contact with counterparties, Legal department, Accounting/Confirmations department, and Credit department.
Responsibilities:
•Drafts, structures and negotiates various trading arrangements with particular emphasis on development and negotiation of ISDA Master Agreements, EEI Master Agreements, NAESB Agreements, complimentary transaction documents and various environmental product trading arrangements with particular emphasis on Renewable Energy Credit (REC) and Emissions products.
•Prepares contract assessment, redlines, recommendations and summary prior to contract execution and ensures the delivery of contract documents in accordance with customer deadlines.
•Responsible for consistent follow-up with counterparties, internal groups (front office, tax, credit, accounting etc) and detailed record keeping.
•Manages internal notifications and approvals related to execution of contracts, including briefing various business unit functions.
•Reviews and processes assignment and novation agreements.
•Drafts and maintains contract templates for various contract types, including approved special provisions to commodity contracts.
•Ensures that contract terms are consistent with those required for regulatory compliance and stays informed of current energy contracts trends and laws to ensure contracts templates are industry standard
•Performs periodic analyses of contract terms and miscellaneous ad-hoc projects.
•Uploads and updates all contracts in the CRM systems.
•Leads projects as assigned.
•Provides backup support for others within the department.
Requirements & Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training
•A minimum of 5 years in contract administration/negotiation for wholesale gas and power trading, demonstrating a proficiency in natural gas and/or power industry agreements (NAESB, ISDA, GasEDI, and EEI)
•Experience in contract review to ensure proper interpretation, tracking and implementation of key terms and conditions of contracts
•Solid understanding of natural gas or power trading activities, including transportation and storage contracting
•Experience working as part of a fluid team, leveraging different skill sets and serving as back-up and relying on others for back-up on daily work product
•Experience managing workflow of trading and retail contract negotiations
•Understanding of front-to-back trading processes and functional accountabilities
•Comfortable working in fast-paced trading environment with frequent changes in priorities and tight deadlines
•Working knowledge of contractual credit risk management provisions
•Ability to draft structured (long-form) natural gas and power confirmations, evidenced by experience with non-standard contracts
•Proficiency with Energy Trading Transaction Management Systems
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
•Proactive working style, continually seeking to improve processes and support business growth
•Strong ISDA experience a plus
