Position Summary
This role will be pivotal in supporting critical month-end close processes, support executing payroll functions, and performing balance sheet reconciliations. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge in variance analysis and be eager to support innovative projects, including the integration of AI solutions to elevate accounting department efficiency.
Essential Duties
Accounting
•Month-End Close: Support the month-end closing activities specific to assigned departments. Ensure timely and accurate reporting, balance revenue and expenses, and identify and address any discrepancies.
•Payroll Processing: Support the bi-weekly payroll processes to ensure accuracy, compliance with company policies, and adherence to federal and state payroll regulations.
•Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Conduct monthly reconciliations for all assigned balance sheet accounts, with particular attention to accuracy and completeness. Investigate and resolve any reconciling items promptly.
•Month-End Close Responsibilities: Support overall month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments, to produce timely and accurate financial statements. Investigate and resolve discrepancies, and respond to questions from management to ensure the integrity of financial reporting
•Variance Analysis: Perform monthly variance analysis to identify key financial trends and discrepancies. Communicate findings with relevant department heads and offer insights to improve financial performance.
•Audit Support: Preparing documents and providing support for internal and external audits, which is often critical during month-end and year-end closing.
•AI Project Support: Collaborate with the accounting team on projects to leverage artificial intelligence tools and machine learning models that streamline accounting tasks, enhance data accuracy, and improve reporting capabilities.
•Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Departmental Support
•Works with personnel from each department to ensure monthly financial results are accurate.
•Support the payroll process by calculating commissions and timesheets and submitting bi-weekly payroll for approval.
•Collaborate closely with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate coding of invoices, timely AP close processes.
Safety
•Report all recognized unsafe conditions or acts to Management.
•Wear proper PPE when necessary.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) with emphasis in Business, Finance, Accounting or related from a four-year college or university preferred.
•Possess a valid Texas driver’s license
•3-5 years’ experience in accounting and finance.
•QuickBooks experience is preferred.
•Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting, month-end close, payroll processing, and balance sheet reconciliations.
•Familiarity with AI tools and interest in using technology to enhance accounting processes.
•Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, auditing, and regulatory reporting.
•Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with advanced Excel skills
